Sports Producer

Duties

• Works behind the scenes, researches show content, writes show scripts and often oversees the sports department's budget.
• Produces and directs the sports portion of newscasts and often goes on location to produce live coverage of sporting events.
• Supervises the sports reporters, crew and any associate producers and works with them to create prepackaged sports segments and special shows, in addition to the on-air live content.

Qualifications

• An extensive knowledge of and passion for the sports industry.
• Understands the operational side of television production, including online and offline editing and graphics software.

Experience Level

• A bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism or a related field.
• At least three to five years of live news and show production experience.
