Planning Producer

Duties

• Plans ahead and works proactively to compile a list of approved and pending story ideas for future use.
• Keeps track of what's happening in the community and local and national calendars of events. For example, a few months before Black History Month, a planning producer is working to conceptualize stories in advance, lining up interviews and studio guests, as well as live remotes. Entire stories or partial segments can be filmed in advance.

Qualifications

• Actively involved in the community and has great relationships with community members.
• Excellent writing and producing skills.

Experience Level

• A bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcast television or a related field.
• Prior news production experience.
