What Else Can I Do to Keep My TV?

Make sure your pay-TV provider knows how much you value your local channels. Make a call, send an email or mail a letter. Tell them if we all play fair, everyone wins!

And don't stop there, if you love your broadcast channels, tell everyone!

  • Send a letter to the editor of your local paper explaining why you value local television. (Download Sample)
  • Email your federal representatives and let them know you want pay-TV providers to negotiate fairly to keep your local stations on their system. (Download Sample)
  • Post a message to your Facebook page and be sure to become a "fan" of all your local stations and favorite shows so you can stay updated on the latest news. Follow your favorite shows on Twitter and retweet to your friends.
  • During the congressional election season, you may have the opportunity to attend a town hall with your member of Congress or meet with him/her. Use this opportunity to tell your member of Congress how much you value your local television stations.

And don't forget, you can always get your favorite shows and local news for free with an inexpensive antenna. All stations are now broadcasting in digital, which means the snowy picture of yesteryear is long gone.

Now, viewers can get access to local stations, with crystal clear pictures, just by using the right antenna. You can even get channels you may not see on your pay-TV system, including shows in HD if you have an HDTV. And the best part is – it's all free – there are no monthly subscription costs, just the one time cost of purchasing an antenna if you do not already own one.
